Biblical Stewardship
A Calling to Give
Purpose: Managing God’s Resources
God created us in His image and places in our hands His resources so that we may be in relationship with Him as His asset managers, or His stewards, over all His creation. As such, stewardship is a calling to pursue a deeper relationship with God, the Owner of all things.
Posture: Responding to God’s Directives
As stewards of the assets God entrusts to us, we are to be in consistent conversation with Him regarding these resources. We are to respond to His directives and to pursue His charitable objectives and goals. Working in us, with us, and through us, God uses the asset manager relationship to conform our hearts to His as we actively participate with Him in His work.
Perspective: Understanding God’s View
Through a deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, we come to understand God’s heart and view life and wealth from His perspective. We then, more effectively and impactfully, oversee His resources as He directs, discovering our true identity as His faithful managers and fully understanding that Biblical stewardship is radically different than worldly giving.
Generosity: A Significant Part of Stewardship
Your generosity is a wonderful reflection of the Gospel and God’s care and compassion for us. Understanding God’s view of generosity helps understand His character, nature, and provision. In this, He calls us to be stewards of the assets, He will use to accomplish His purposes.
From raising awareness of ministries, to facilitating your charitable work through a giving fund, to sharing Biblical principles for proactive philanthropy, SCCF assists you in establishing a deeper understanding of generosity and in accomplishing the giving goals God places on your heart. By creatively approaching your charitable giving, you can:
- Build a giving strategy that meets your financial and charitable goals.
- Set aside funds, immediately receive the maximum tax deduction, and then gift the assets over time to the charities you choose.
- Discover asset-based, non-cash giving options that may allow you to be more generous and receive greater tax benefits
- Consider opportunities for lifetime and legacy gifts as well as strategies to pass along your values to children and grandchildren.
